Dreams



Some people have a dream of running the New York City Marathon . I wish them good luck but for me it is just as any other Marathon : 42 kilometers and 195 meters. Enjoy running and the place doesn't really matter to me. Loved running Amsterdam and Rotterdam Marathon. Ofcours NYCM was on my wishlist so when I saw that a local Athletics Club was planning of going to NY in 2010 I mailed them. Main reason is that New York City Marathon is getting more expensive every year. At this moment we (people from the Netherlands) have to pay more than 2000 euro's for this Marathon (Flight / Hotel / Starting-bib) . I won't see NY as a Dream but more as a fantastic event wich I will love. Sunday 7th of November : The day I will run NYCM !!

Autumn 2010 will be New York but also for this year (2009) I have great plans. On the 20th of september I will run the Leie Marathon in Belgium. In october I will run the Half Marathon in Eindhoven (Netherlands) . On sunday the 8th of November I will run the Marathon of Terschelling (Netherlands) also known as the Berenloop (Bear-Run) - This Marathon is the same day as New York only here you run at the beaches, the dunes and the small roads of the island of Terschelling. My goal for this year is to break my Marathon Record and I want to do this in Belgium.

Inspired by so many runners who are working on there speed I did a 5k run at my home town (Aalsmeer). No race or any kind of that - no just running 5k on a fast pace and hoping for a good time. The past months I only worked my endurance and not my speed so I was also curious of what time I could run. My heartrate exploded and I gave my all but my all wasn't good enough as I crossed the "finishline" and got scared : 28 minutes 10 seconds ! Damn... that is not a good time for me. You can see all the date on my MotionBased-page . During my cooling-down I decided to do a 5k-run every wednesday just to see how I can imrove myself. Looking forward to the 27th of May where I hope to be able to run a fast time. Fast enough to reach my expectations.

Tuesday I joined the my Athletics Club in Aalsmeer and our coach had planned of training the muscles ... those you won't train every day ;-) Well... these needed to be trained but aaarch what I had to do to finish this training. After this work-out the programme was 300m - 500m - 700m - 900m - 1100m - 900m - 700m - 500m - 300m. All the date can be seen on my MotionBased-page . The training went ok but I still need to improve my speed. On thursday we now are getting back in to the woods of Amsterdam to train. Advantage for me is the 8.7 kilometer wich I need to cycle to get to the training. It's a nice extra for me :-) Training went ok - check the date HERE . Cycling home I decided to do a sprint on my old bike - 5.47 kilometers in 14 minutes and 50 seconds. Nice time to set but ofcourse it could be faster and it will be faster !! This course will be done twice a week so stay in touch to see my improvement.

On monday evening and saturday morning I did 2 hours on the cross-trainer at home with fantastic music. Saturday I went to Deventer (eastern part of the Netherlands) where my sister and here boyfriend live. Sander celebrated his 26th birthday : PARTYTIME !! No more training for me in this weekend. Coming week will be a nice one : Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday normal working days with running-training in the evening. On thursday the 30th of april I will go to Antwerp (Belgium) for the concert of TINA TURNER !! Will be my second concert this tour and I am looking forward to this. On friday the 1st of may I will run a 10k-race in Knokke (Belgium). Saturday a runners-clinic and in the evening a musical. Hope I have enough courage to run a LSD (Long Slow Distance) on sunday .
